After a long journey that began on 12 September 2020 with a narrow defeat in Birmingham for Brentford and a win with the same score for Swansea City on Preston’s court; the day of the final act of the Championship has arrived ; after 48 matches, the two teams will play everything in the Wembley match : whoever wins flies to the Premier League.
The formations
The Brentford in the field with the trident composed of Toney and Mbeumo with behind them Marcondes , plays in midfield Roerslev right; trident confirmed instead for Swansea: Connors plays with Ayew and Lowe.
The race
At the first opportunity Brentford took the lead: foul in goalkeeper Woodman’s area on Mbeumo and penalty kick, Ivan Toney went from the spot and made no mistake, signing the 33th goal this season
After only ten minutes comes the doubling: personal action on the right of Rasmussen who on the counterattack serves Marcondes who realizes with the right.
The double advantage penalizes Swansea, the departure of Brentford is really incisive; after half an hour the Welsh recovered by closing the Londoners in their own half, but only remedying some corners that were not lucky. The Bees, on the other hand, are close to the trio with Mbeumo whose conclusion is well saved by Woodman.

In the second half, Swansea started determined to close the gap and suffered two chances from goal, the first a right-footed shot by Jamal Lowe which was lost however to the right of Raya Martin and the second with a header by Cullen that came out on the left. ; the network does not arrive and in addition the Welsh remain in ten men: naivety of Fulton who performs a serious and useless intervention by remedying the direct expulsion and complicating the recovery of Swansea.
The Bees control the game until the end of the match, obtaining promotion to the Premier League for the first time in history ; the path in recent seasons rewards a club that in terms of programming before and points obtained on the field deserves more than others the promotion, which escaped last season in the final lost against Fulham .
There will therefore still be six London teams in the top flight: Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham and Crystal Palace are then joined by Brentford ; instead three formations in the Championship with Fulham relegated reaching Millwall and QPR.
